771 – King Carloman ,joint King of the Franks, dies, leaving his older brother Charlemagne, sole ruler of the Frankish Kingdom
1110 – Syrian harbor city Saida (Sidon) surrenders to Crusaders.
1619 – 38 colonists from Berkeley Parish in England disembark in Virginia and give thanks to God. Considered by many as the first Thanksgiving in the Americas.
1674 – Father Marquette builds the first dwelling in what is now Chicago
1680 – A hen in Rome lays an egg imprinted with a comet and then is seen in the skies on Dec 16th of the same year
1791 – Britain’s Observer, the oldest Sunday newspaper in the world, begins publication
