1872 – Bloomingdale’s department store in NY opens its doors

1913 – Federal Income Tax signed into law (at 1%)
1920 – The NFL (then American Pro Football Association) plays its first games

2008 – The $700 billion bailout bill for the US financial system is signed by President George W. Bush? (And now the govt is broke?)
